Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri attended a mini concert for Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU), or persons with disabilities, namely Kau & Aku in conjunction with World OKU Day at the Damansara Performing Art Center here on Thursday (December 2). The concert organized by the OKU Sentral Association (OKU Sentral) is part of a series of mini concerts and art exhibitions held over the past three years.

President of OKU Sentral, Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi said, his party was pleased that Datuk Seri Ismail and Cabinet ministers were able to spend time to celebrate OKU day. The theme of this year’s World OKU Day is OKU leadership and participation towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-Covid-19 world.

Ismail Sabri has previously recognised that persons with disabilities are an important component of his vision for the Malaysian Family. Meanwhile, Ras Adiba added, the Kau & Aku mini concert is an inclusive idea that reflects the inclusiveness of the Malaysian Family concept.

He explained that the OKU community wants to be part of the common vision of a sustainable and successful Malaysia. “The singers, dancers, musicians and artists featured are specifically from our OKU community. They do not let disability hinder the group's journey to become world-class creative talent. These entertainers and artists embody the essence of the concept of the Malaysian Family and what I believe it means for the whole country regardless of race, creed, age or ability," he said.

“I am very grateful to my OKU friends who are talented and willing to present and exhibit their artwork because it is important for us to share their talents and skills. I would also like to express my sincere thanks to all the partners and supporters of our programme," he said.

Among the partners are CIMB Bank Berhad, CIMB Foundation, Hasanah Foundation, Sime Darby Foundation, Telekom Malaysia Foundation, Cultural Economic Development Agency (CENDANA), We & I, Don's Warong, Stylo Studio, Neutrovis, Do One and Glenreagh Sdn Bhd.

Meanwhile, also present at the concert were Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Tan Seri Annuar Musa and Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Aaron.
