CIMB Foundation sponsored squash player Sivasangari Subramaniam received another timely accolade ahead of the World Squash Championships in Cairo when she was named The World Games' Athlete for the month of April. The prestigious award bestowed by the International World Games Association (IWGA) through The World Games was based on Sivasangari's exploits at the London Classic. World No. 13 Sivasangari won the Professional Squash Association (PSA) gold-level London Classic by upstaging world No. 1 Nour ElSherbini of Egypt, world No. 4 Nele Gilis of Belgium and another Egyptian Hania El Hammamy in the last eight, semi-final and final respectively. Interestingly, Sivasangari is expected to play El Hammamy in an expected last-16 clash and national head coach Ajaz Azmat believes that the latest award would further inspire her to do well in Cairo where the world championships begins on Thursday (May 9). Sivasangari had also received the Player of the month award on Saturday (May 4) for winning the London Classic.
