The Persatuan Anak Istimewa Sarawak (PERAIS), or Sarawak Association for the Welfare of Intellectually Disabled Children has received a grant to empower orang kelainan upaya (OKU), or persons with disabilities, in modern fertigation vegetable farming from the CIMB Foundation. PERAIS President Rapelson Richard Hamit said that the RM47,500 grant would be used to obtain 1,000 sets of fertigation vegetable poly bag sets, as well as for training programmes and courses. He said that the grant would also be utilised for the construction of storage, site rental, laptops, printing machines, projectors, other equipment and management costs. Meanwhile, the funds were handed over by CIMB Bank Branch Manager of Serian, Steve Richard, representing the CIMB Foundation, at a breaking of fast event with PERAIS committee members.
