The Institute for Development Studies (IDS) Sabah has collaborated with more than 20 volunteer organisations and NGOs in Sabah to launch a Disaster Monitoring Centre (D-Hub) to streamline and facilitate disaster response work.

The initiative, launched last year, is part of IDS's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at ensuring more systematic disaster relief efforts. The D-Hub platform aims to strengthen coordination between volunteer organisations during disasters.

Through more organised collaboration, the platform seeks to optimise resources, minimise waste, and prevent situations where certain areas or individuals are either overlooked or receive excessive assistance.

D-Hub also serves as a crucial link between volunteer groups and official district disaster coordination committees, ensuring volunteer work aligns with authorities' directives, needs, and agreements. On Monday (February 10), IDS sent "Hero Meals" aid to the Beaufort district, with IDS Executive Director Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Johan Arriffin Abdul Samad leading the team to deliver supplies.

To address urgent needs arising from disasters, D-Hub provided ready-to-eat meals for affected residents with support from the Kembara Kitchen and CIMB Foundation's kitchen fleet.
