The Beaufort district has been severely affected by flooding due to the sudden overflow of the Padas River following continuous rainfall. In response, the Institute for Development Studies (Sabah) (IDS) carried out a humanitarian aid mission on Wednesday (March 12) to assist flood victims.

Led by IDS Chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Hjh. Azizah binti DSP Mohd. Dun and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ts. Dr. Ramzah Dambul, the mission provided support to approximately 625 victims housed at two Pusat Pemidahan Sementara (PPS), or Temporary Evacuation Centres.

The aid included the distribution of ready-to-eat (RTE) food, known as Hero-Meals, as part of IDS’s commitment to community welfare. IDS has also taken proactive steps to strengthen emergency response efforts, collaborating with various organisations, including CIMB Foundation, through the D-Hub initiative.

With weather models predicting the monsoon season to end by late March or early April, IDS continues to monitor disaster situations and provide aid within 24 hours. The organisation remains dedicated to supporting affected communities and enhancing disaster resilience.
