This year, the programme will benefit close to 4,000 underserved and underprivileged families across Malaysia.

"The food basket contains basic necessities such as rice, chicken, canned sardines and cooking oil, which will benefit the communities in need including the B40 group, orphans, senior citizens, Orang Asli and refugees.

"Apart from that, we also gave away bubur lambuk, a dish synonymous with the fasting month.

"We also provided popular kuih Melayu, from a local entrepreneur who was a participant of the Program Keusahawanan Taylor's-CIMB Islamic. This helps boost the income of the micro-entrepreneur," he said when met after handing out food baskets to residents of Rimba Jaya Apartment (Ken Rimba) on Wednesday.

Apart from distributing food baskets, assistance by CIMB included Hari Raya clothing and cash assistance where the Group collaborated with several NGOs namely, Adab Youth Garage, Islamic Relief Malaysia, Yayasan Belia Malaysia, and Yayasan Al-Khalifah under the Harapan Ramadan programme which covers the Klang Valley as well as other states.

Rimba Jaya Apartment resident Siti Farrah Mohamad Fadzllah Suhaimi, one of the recipients of the aid expressed her delight in receiving the assistance. The 33-year-old housewife said that the food basket will help her manage her expenses for Ramadan.

"Alhamdulillah, I am glad to be one of the recipients of the aid. With Hari Raya coming soon, we appreciate this and are grateful for the kindness shown by CIMB Group as our burden has been eased with the basic necessities shared with us."

Rimba Jaya Apartment Block C committee member Rosmah Sasil said Harapan Ramadan was a good programme which would benefit the community especially those living in her apartment block.

"We have all kinds of people here, be it the disabled, those who have lost their jobs and senior citizens.
