SIBU: Sarawak's young squash players returned with three titles in the recent 13th CIMB Foundation Rising Star National Junior Circuits 2018 2nd leg held in Pahang.

Miri's Harith Danial Jefri scooped the Boy's U-13 title while his teammate Wong Lee Hong captured the Boys' U-11 crown.

Squash Racquets Association of Sarawak (SRAS) president Robert Lau Hui Yew said the good result was another testimony of the strong showing in the sport by Sarawak budding talents.

"Our grassroots development programme is reaping dividends and we are confident that these players will continue to shine as they advance to the different categories," he said.

During the f i r s t leg held at Penang in early May, Sarawak won the Boy's and Girl's U-17 categories through Nathan Kueh and Chloe Chieng.

"This time around, we give a strong show in the U-13, U-11 and U-9 categories," Lau added. The five-day tournament organised by Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia (SRAM) attracted 295 players from 15 states who played in the U-9, U-11 and U-13 age categories.

The 20-strong Sarawak team was led by Yeoh Ai Nah as team manager with Liong Bi Ling and Athar Ali as coaches.
