CIMB Bank comes to fire victims’ aid

TAWAU: A commercial bank has come to the aid of fire victims here to the tune of about Rm85,500.

A total of 171 families affected by the fire in Kg Hidayat last July has received the aid from the CIMB Foundation. 

In a statement, the Foundation said most of the aid came in the form of basic essentials, clothing and bedding materials. 

The Foundation's chairman Dato Hamidah Naziadin said it was also giving RM45.000 to small traders in the village to help them restart their businesses. 

The Welfare Department here and the Tawau Municipal Council are playing their respective roles in distributing the aid. 

The CEMB Foundation is 10 years old, and has given out RM102 million in 962 cases and benefited 700,000 people in Malaysia as well as Asean countries in which the CIMB Bank operates. - By Sazrini Badam
