Another challenge for Sabah squash juniors

KOTA KINABALU: Ten junior squash players will be donning the Sabah jersey this week when they compete in the 9th CIMB Foundation National Junior Circuit 1st Leg to be held at the Nicol David International Squash Centre in Penang from May 3-6.

The State contingent will be led by recent 4th South East Asia Cup Women's Singles champion, Jessica Keng Jia Hui who will be looking to clinch another trophy as she competes in the Girls' Under-19 category.

The SMK Inanam student is seeded second for the categoiy behind national squash sensation, Aira Azman of Kedah which means that Jessica qualifies directly into the quarter-finals after receiving a first-round bye.

Among other top State juniors are Kayden Liaw Juin Wuen who will challenge for the Boys' Under-17 category alongside Adam Mohd Amrie Goh and Richie Richard Gabil. The duo of Etain Tay Ee Xuan and Rebecca Lai Hung Ching will both be competing in the Girls' Under-15 category whereas Mohd Zaydie Yun, Muhd Azib Lidin, Fernando Richard Gabil and Syafiq Asyari Saijuddin will together compete in the Boys' Under-15 category.

Sabah Squash Association (SSA) president, Keng Chuan Seng wished all the State junior players good luck, hoping that all of them will do their best and bring back silverware from the tournament.
