Improving facilities in rural schools
PINTAR is a programme established under the auspices of Khazanah Nasional Berhad aimed at improving the prospects of students in rural schools. Upon inception in 2007, CIMB Group adopted 2 primary schools under PINTAR. In 2008, CIMB Group's participation in PINTAR was taken over by the Foundation. The number of adopted schools also increased to 10 as follows:
Sekolah Kebangsaan Pulau Betong, Penang * Sekolah Kebangsaan Jelutong, Penang * Sekolah Kebangsaan Pauh Lima, Kelantan Sekolah kebangsaan Pulau Kundor, Kelantan Sekolah kebangsaan Ayer Puteh, Perak Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Ibul, Perak Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Ken Boon, Johor Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Lagenda, Langkawi, Kedah Sekolah Kebangsaan Utan Aji, Kedah * Initially adopted in 2007 The programmes implemented at the schools to-date include improving reading and vocabulary skills, computer literacy, exam drills, motivational sessions and educational excursions for the students. Adopting a holistic approach, the programmes conducted also cater for development of teachers’ skills as well as motivating parents to encourage greater participation in their children's education.
